The British weather might not naturally lend itself to outdoor dining but we were always clear that we wanted Lakeside to include a gorgeous bar and restaurant space for alfresco eating. Because when the weather is kind, there’s nothing better than enjoying food in the open air, whether it’s coffee and a pastry before the heat of the day or dinner and cocktails as the stars twinkle above.
Relax on The Terrace
Reminiscent of time spent in bustling waterfront cafes or balmy Mediterranean piazzas, the outdoor seating at The Terrace Bar takes full advantage of its lakeside location with tables cleverly positioned to get the best of the sun and views over the water. Festoon lighting strung overhead adds contemporary style during the day and a magical atmosphere as the sun goes down.
And if the weather doesn’t quite play ball, we’ve got you covered – literally! Our giant parasols provide welcome shade on those scorching days and shelter from the inevitable rain at other times so you can book in confidence knowing that whatever the weather might throw at us, it won’t spoil your plans.
When the temperature drops, turn up the patio heater and feel free to bring your own blankets and other layers to keep out the chill. Even in the winter (or let’s face it, any time of the year in this country), there is something wonderfully appealing about enveloping yourself in a soft blanket, wrapping your hands around a steaming hot chocolate and watching your breath cloud in the frosty air. Think hunkering down in cosy ski lodges, with drinks that warm you from the inside out.
The Terrace Bar isn’t the only option when it comes to outdoor seating. As part of the landscaping of the extensive grounds, we’ve added picnic benches throughout, which offer an informal and dog-friendly alternative for dining outside. Serving the same varied and mouthwatering menu as on the terrace, these tables are available to walk-ins and their four-legged friends on a first-come, first-served basis, making them ideal for that spontaneous lunchtime get together or spur-of-the-moment drinks after work.
Whatever you fancy, from a clotted cream tea to some tasty morsels of world tapas, our Restaurant menu delivers for the whole family. Featuring a delicious selection of options together with our specially-developed children’s menu, it showcases the talents of our kitchen team and offers an insight into what’s to come once we can throw open the doors to the rest of the venue.
Served from 12 noon until 7.30 pm, the main menu ranges from family favourites to innovative takes on popular classics. Tuck into a rich slow-cooked beef brisket pie with creamy mash, local steaks or crispy beer-battered fish and chips with homemade tartare sauce. Or for a lighter bite try roast fillet of salmon served with a decadent Champagne mussel sauce, a fresh falafel superfood salad or crispy zucchini fritters.
There’s a taster of our sushi and world tapas menus on there too, with a soft-shell crab California roll, chicken yakitori and spiced arancini, to pick out just a few.
More – or less
If you’re looking for something more, why not try our Sunday Lunch with all the trimmings. Alternatively, if you’re just after a drink in the sunshine join us from 11 am for fresh pastries. You’ll be made just as welcome and can choose from a wide range of hot and cold drinks, including creamy milkshakes and chilled juices. Later in the day let our cocktail options tempt you into trying something a bit stronger.
At any time
Whatever the weather and whatever the occasion, The Terrace Bar can deliver. With its beautiful gardens, onsite parking and proximity to Nottingham city centre, it really is the place to be.
